The Journal, the Journey, the Blog: Returning 2 SELF

From private journals to public insights: Glenda Maitin shares her 'Returning 2 SELF' journey. Discover how her 'Know-Be-Do' philosophy, rooted in faith, can guide you to authentic living and impactful action.

The journey began with pages in a physical journal, and years later, I am here.

I am Glenda Maitin, and I’m so excited to finally be sharing this part of myself with the world. For a long time, I’ve felt a pull to connect with others on a deeper level, to share the lessons I’ve learned on my own journey of self-discovery. And that’s what this blog is all about – Returning 2 SELF.

I am an impact-driven Executive, Thought Leader, and Campaigner of Empowerment, committed to maximizing the unique gifts God has entrusted to me. I firmly believe in the potential of individuals to create lasting change through intentional efforts, and my values are deeply rooted in sustainable value creation, socio-economic transformation, and empowering future generations.

Guided by my faith and the powerful principle found in Daniel 11:32, the foundation of my “Know-Be-Do” philosophy, I live to inspire others to leverage their talents for meaningful impact while fostering community connections that promote everlasting returns.

The “Know-Be-Do” philosophy stems from Daniel 11:32, which emphasizes self-awareness, authenticity, and purposeful action. At its core, I teach that when you “KNOW” who you are—your values, abilities, and potential—you are empowered to “BE” your authentic self, living intentionally and unapologetically. This self-realization becomes the foundation for accomplishing great feats and creating meaningful impact as you confidently “DO” exploits that align with your purpose and identity. This holistic principle underpins my endeavors, encouraging individuals to live with clarity, authenticity, and action-oriented purpose.

My way of living has always been about ‘me vs ME’; I am just more aware of how the “SELF” plays a huge role in the ‘self’ I show up as, and being my authentic self has always been important to me, especially in everything I do. My personal growth revolves around this way of living, and it’s been a continuous process of recognizing, understanding, and navigating the duality within myself—the interplay between my inner “SELF,” the part that reflects my true values and purpose, and the external “self” that I present to the world. Over time, I’ve come to deeply appreciate how the “SELF” governs the way I show up across every facet of life, be it personal or professional.

Authenticity is my compass. It’s not just a value I hold, but a standard I strive to embody in everything I do. Whether I’m working towards personal milestones or engaging in collaborative efforts, my focus is always on being aligned with my most authentic self. This alignment allows me to live and work with integrity, fostering meaningful relationships and creating a sense of fulfillment.

I have learned that growth often requires courage—courage to confront limitations, reframe old narratives, and lean into discomfort. By prioritizing self-awareness and authenticity, I’ve built a stronger foundation for showing up as the best version of myself, no matter the circumstances. Self-reflection has been an integral tool in this process, helping me identify areas for improvement while reinforcing who I truly am.

The journey thus far is deeply rooted in the practice of soul-searching and self-discovery. For as long as I can remember, I have been on a quest to align my actions, thoughts, and purpose with my truest essence—what I call “Returning 2 SELF.” This concept represents more than just introspection; it’s an intentional effort to strip away external expectations and reconnect with the person I was created to be.

It all began when I was 18 years old and first picked up journaling. Writing became my safe space—a way to process life’s challenges, celebrate my wins, and reflect on the lessons I was learning while growing. Over the years, journaling not only helped me grow but also became a tool for clarity, offering tangible evidence of how far I’ve come. Through every word, I was learning to trust God’s plan and see the beauty in my imperfections.

Fast forward to today, and I’ve reached a pivotal moment in this ongoing story.

The decision to begin blogging stems from my belief that this powerful experience of introspection and growth is something I have a responsibility to share. I see it as a calling—a way to connect with others, inspire them to begin or continue their journeys, and remind them of one core truth that anchors my own story—our Creator loves us, unconditionally, in spite of ourselves.

This journey represents a shift in my purpose—from writing solely for myself to sharing my insights with the world. I am committed to creating a space that encourages self-love, spiritual growth, and resilience, one post at a time. Through my blog, I hope to weave together my personal reflections and universal truths in a way that empowers a wider audience.

I hope this first post inspires you to look within and realize that everything you are searching for is already inside of you.
